Textile and Fashion Department is a didactic, research and scientific unit of the Polytechnic University of Tirana since 1994. 

Especially the last ten years have been a period of transformation and positive development for the Department of Textile and Fashion in terms of curricula and study programs.

Currently, department offers three full-time study programs: Bachelor - 3 years, Master of Science - 2 years and Doctoral School in Materials Engineering with the orientation "Textile Materials". The Department of Textile and Fashion also offers the Part-time Study Program “Professional Master in Fashion Design”.

Part of the department sre the Physical-Mechanical Laboratory, the Chemical Laboratory and the CAD / CAM Technology Laboratory. Laboratories are equipped with modern apparatus and equipment for performing laboratory tests and analyzes from the raw fiber material to the ready-made product of textile or leather. The laboratory is accredited according to the new standard of accreditation of testing laboratories ISO / IEC 17025 and continuously expands its testing activity in testing the physical - mechanical and chemical nature of textiles and leather materials.

As a result of cooperation with donors in the framework of various projects, the Department of Textile and Fashion has also expanded its activity in the service of interested third parties in terms of vocational training courses for production specialists and vocational training schools.

The Department of Textile and Fashion, as the only public academic unit in country covering the textile and garment sector, has a close cooperation with textile and garment, leather and shoes manufacturing companies in country in terms of students internship, cooperation in common projects, consultancy and trainings.
